The project was started in June 2009 and is due to be completed in December of 2009.

This job is part of a larger DownerEDI Works and Ontrack contract.

Stage One of the job in the Mihiwaka Tunnel was to realign and strengthen the bluestone walls.  Stage Two was to strengthen a section of the brick roof and the bluestone base below.

Due to the nature of the environment, a confined space with limited ventilation, for health and safety reason, we could not use any petrol powered equipment in the tunnel. Instead, our proven hydraulic handsaws and bar saws, hydraulic core drills and electric core drills were used.
